UVU just received an anonymous one million dollar donation from two mystery business leaders. University officials say that they’ll use the money to open the first Center for Constitutional Studies here in the Intermountain West. The center will work with the history and political science department to create a minor degree for university students, and will also hold guest lectures for the community.
Vice President of Academic Affairs, Ian Wilson, has said, “We’re very excited about the prospects of establishing a center that would promote the teaching and scholarly research in the area of constitutional studies.”
UVU Students are also excited. David Krause, a student at the university says, “I think it will open up a lot more opportunities to learn about America’s history… I think that that’s going to be important for our school personally.”
The University is trying to find a location for the center and will seek further funding to make sure the program will continue through next five years.
