PROVO- BYU’s rugby team is off to a blazing 12-0 start.
Assistant coach Wayne Tarawhiti said he and his team have only one goal in mind: “Another national championship.”
Their last loss came over two years ago in February of 2014. Having lost only 20 times in the past 21 years they’ve won five national championships, including the last four consecutive years.
“We’ve got some good athletes that make us look really good as coaches, but we just… know what we’re about, we understand that it’s going to require some hard work, and so the boys put in a lot of hard work, it just pays off,” Tarawhiti said.
After a series sweep of third-ranked Saint Mary’s, the Cougars will continue their quest for another title Friday in Ogden against Weber State.
