PROVO – Brigham Young University Men’s Tennis Head Coach Brad Pearce made history on February 3rd by recording his 200th victory. Now, with the win against Boise State on February 11th, he’s tied with his father, former Head Coach Wayne Pearce, for the most wins as the Men’s Tennis Head Coach.
Coach Pearce said he was unaware of reaching win number 200 until his players told him about it. The 13-year Head Coach said he believes it’s all about the team and the success of the BYU tennis program.
But Coach Pearce also knows it’s not every day that someone breaks their father’s record.
“Accomplishing more wins is an incredible achievement because of what he accomplished, and so I think it will probably be… a little bittersweet,” Coach Pearce said.
Coach Pearce said he believes it’s all about the team’s success. Like his father, he’s only looking at the season one match at a time and prepares his players the same way.
The Cougars lost on February 9th to the University of Utah, but their next match will be against New Mexico on February 17th.
