PROVO – After competing for seven weeks, the Brigahm Young University men’s and women’s swim teams will head into the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championships in California on February 15th through February 18th.
This is both teams’ biggest event of the year to date. So far this season, the men have had home wins over the University of Nevada Las Vegas and Grand Canyon University, but the big event will be in the league championship meet at East Los Angeles College, where they hope to win another title.
Swim team member Preston Jenkins said he’s confident in the outlook for this competition.
“This group is (such) a great group of guys and we’re (going to) have some really fast swims, and I think we should take (the title) again hopefully. That’s definitely the goal, that’s definitely what we’re shooting for this year,” he said.
The men’s team has won the league championship the past three years in a row, but both the men’s and women’s teams are taking a two-week break from their regular practices before the competition so they can be well-rested.
