PROVO, Utah – Brigham Young University men’s basketball brought the heat to Las Vegas in their first game in the West Coast Conference.
Some fans made the trip to Las Vegas to watch BYU play Loyola Marymount University, but some cheered on the Cougars from the comfort of their own homes.
What started out as a slow paced first half turned into a tight ball game that kept fans on the edge of their couches. Watching from hom, BYU fan Kalan Cantwell said he was pretty sure BYU was going to win. He also told us that he played against Nick Emery and TJ Haws in high school, and he went to school with Yoeli Childs, so he was excited to see them come this far.
Halftime brought more baskets, reactions, and food. The Cougars and Lions were neck to neck during the last few minutes, and fans could not relax until BYU pulled ahead with an 8 point lead.
BYU Fan Dylan Briggs said he figured BYU would win, and that BYU has more talent than people think. However, Hunter Esmay said that BYU needed the win, but it was a little messy.
