PROVO, Utah – Brigham Young University softball has a new strike out leader.
Senior pitcher McKenna Bull said breaking the strike out record is something she has wanted to do since her freshman year.
Bull finally broke that record in the sixth inning against Ohio’s Miami University. She had a total of 11 strikeouts, a season high for the senior. She now has 805 total strikeouts, surpassing Paige Affleck’s 2008 standing record of 803.
“I’ve been working really hard for the last three seasons to get to this point, and to finally beat that record was really exciting,” Bull said.
Bull also said she didn’t know she had broken the record during the game – her coach told her after.
Now that she’s met this goal, Bull said she wants to continue to play at a high level and help her team be as successful as they can.
