PROVO, Utah – The Women’s National Invitation Tournament has just released their tournament bracket, and Brigham Young University will be playing Washington State University this Thursday at the Marriott Center.
With only 12 wins this year, Washington State earned a spot in the WNIT because they were the highest remaining seed in the PAC 12. It is the third time out of four seasons that they will play in a post-season tournament. BYU’s big three will take the court led by WCC player of the year Cassie Broadhead with a team-mate 17.9 points per game.
Senior guard Makenzi Pulsipher will also represent as another scoring threat for BYU with 13.1 points per game. WCC defensive player of the year Kalani Purcell also comes in averaging a double-double with 12.9 points and 10.6 rebounds each game.
BYU could put up a lot of points, but the Cougars need to stay focused on the task at hand and not look ahead to the potential Sweet Sixteen match-up with the University of Utah.
