In 2014, a group of five BYU students went viral when they posted comedy videos online featuring the Cebuano language, which is commonly spoken in the Philippines. Today, despite their split, they remain local celebrities among the Filipino people.
The Hey Joe Show heavily features and celebrates a comedic spin on Filipino culture. Since the initial posting, the team has attracted 800 thousand followers, over 50 million views, danced with the president of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte.
Following their recent graduation from BYU, these former companions came to the decision to disband, which officially ended the Hey Joe Show. Despite this, the group still remains close, and feel as though they have accomplished their original goal: to create a bridge between filipino culture and the rest of the world.
